Canva has stopped treating its pro acquisitions as separate products. On September 15, 2026 it launched the Canva ProSuite, which groups Affinity (design, photo, layout), Cavalry (motion), Flourish (data visualization) and Leonardo (AI image generation) into one connected set, with Canva itself as the place teams scale the work out.
Most of the concrete, usable news is in Affinity 3.3, which shipped the same day.
What changed
Affinity 3.3 adds a Blend Tool. It’s been one of the most requested features for years. It creates in-between steps across vector shapes, interpolating shape, color, opacity, size and position, and CG Channel reports the result stays a live, editable group rather than being flattened.
It can open InDesign files. INDD import is now built in, so you no longer need a third-party converter to get an old InDesign project into Affinity. How faithfully complex documents come across is the thing to check (see below).
JavaScript scripting arrives. A new Scripting Studio workspace lets you automate repetitive jobs. It’s positioned for automation only: scripts can’t add new tools or change how existing ones behave.
Layer to 3D, behind a paywall. Any layer, raster, vector or text, can be turned into a textured 3D model you can rotate and place in the document. It needs a paid Canva subscription.
Photo updates. Global RAW development presets, new edge sharpening options, and channel inversion.
Cavalry, soon, inside Canva. Canva says selected parts of a Cavalry animation, like text and color, will become editable directly inside Canva while the underlying scene stays locked. That’s described as coming, not shipped.
Why it matters for designers
The Blend Tool and INDD import remove two real reasons people kept an Adobe license around just in case. For a studio with years of InDesign archives, being able to open those files in a free tool is a bigger deal than any AI feature in this release.
The ProSuite framing matters too, mostly for teams. The pitch is that a motion designer builds a locked Cavalry template and a marketing team edits only the safe parts in Canva. If that lands as described, it’s the kind of handoff that currently eats a lot of back-and-forth. It isn’t here yet, though, so don’t plan a workflow around it.
What to watch out for
Test INDD import on your own files before you retire anything. Converters between layout apps tend to struggle with things like text threading, nested styles, and linked assets, and no coverage we found tested this against complex real documents.
Keep an eye on the line between free and paid. The core apps staying free is a genuine commitment, but more of the new headline features (Layer to 3D, the AI tools) sit behind a Canva subscription, and that line could move over time.
We’re reporting what Canva and the press coverage describe. We haven’t run 3.3 ourselves, so treat the sidebar as unverified.
